    Awkwafina menoreh sejarah dengan menjadi perempuan berdarah Asia pertama yang meraih penghargaan Aktris Terbaik di Golden Globes 2020 di kategori musikal/komedi berkat perannya di film 'The Farewell'. 

    Sebelumnya, lima aktris berdarah Asia yang masuk nominasi di kategori yang sama, diantaranya Machiko Kyo (1956), Miyoshi Umeki (1961), Yvonne Wlliman (1973), dan Constance Wu (2018). Hailee Steinfeld, dengan ibunya berdarah Filipina juga dinominasikan di film 'Edge of Seventeen'. 



    Raihan aktris bernama asli Nora Lum (31) ini menjadi kejutan tersendiri di ajang Golden Globe Awards tahun ini, di samping nama-nama peraih penghargaan lainnya, seperti Taron Egerton sebagai Aktor Terbaik lewat Rocketman, Renee Zellweger lewat Judy, Brad Pitt lewat Once Upon a Time in ... Hollywood, dan atau Laura Dern lewat Marriage Story.
